Sarah brings creative solution

One of the region's longest-established recruitment companies has launched a specialist arm in response to the flourishing creative sector, which is predicted to see rapid growth over the next few years.

North east based Solutions Recruitment has appointed experienced creative Sarah Deane to head up its new creative division, which covers in-house and agency advertising, marketing, PR and digital media roles across the region.

Sarah moved back to the region five years ago, following a graphic design degree at London Institute Camberwell College in South East London, which she undertook as a mature student. Her career spans industry roles ranging from office manager and photographer to digital artworker, and most recently a spell as studio sales manager at photography specialists Venture.

Sarah is relishing her new role: The creative sector is booming, not just here in the North East but all over the UK, in fact the fastest growing recruitment sector at the end of last year was media, PR and marketing.

Figures from One NorthEast show that the broader creative and cultural sector employs almost 30,000 people in the region and that 53% of companies expect to recruit in the next five years. When I returned to the North East several years ago in search of a better quality of life for myself and my daughter, I was surprised at the lack of experienced recruitment support for people working in the creative professions.

I jumped at the chance to set up a specialist division to tap into this fast-moving market, particularly as Solutions is such a well-established name in the region with a reputation for delivering a consistently high standard to both clients and candidates.


As in any sector the most effective recruitment comes from really understanding the industry, and my own hands-on background gives me a distinct advantage. I'm looking forward to making a real impact and developing this new area of business for Solutions.
