With the help of leading health and safety training providers, RRC, the NEBOSH National General Certificate, recognised for many years in the UK as the basis for a sound, broad introduction to the fundamentals of occupational health and safety, is now available across the globe under the guise of the new NEBOSH International General Certificate and can be studied through a variety of delivery methods.
Fast becoming recognised as one of the most respected health and safety training providers, RRC was heavily involved in the development of the new International General Certificate from the start, designing the original syllabus and then piloting the course. Indeed this new international course is a natural progression in RRCís expanding global and corporate offering which recently saw the company selected by ALSTOM, the global specialist in energy and transport infrastructure, to create and deliver a bespoke health and safety e-learning programme to its staff in 7 different countries. Exams were held in the USA and Switzerland, and 75% of those who took part were successful, despite the fact that the vast majority did not have English as their first language. This success was further evidenced by the achievement of 6 Credits and 2 Distinctions.
The NEBOSH International Certificate is designed for managers, supervisors, employee representatives and others, based outside the United Kingdom, who require a good basic knowledge and understanding of occupational safety and health. Following the same principles as the National General Certificate - which demands high standards of health and safety - the syllabus incorporates International, technical and other standards (ILO Codes of Practice, for instance) where they exist. In other cases, UK requirements and practices that represent ëgood practiceí are followed.
RRC provides open examination facilities in London, Bahrain, Dubai and via British Council Offices throughout the worldn and can offer its corporate customers exam facilities any where in the world.
RRCís MD Gary Fallaize comments: ëIt is becoming increasingly important for corporates and multi-nationals to operate to universal health and safety standards so the time is ripe for an internationally-recognised qualification and we are delighted to have been chosen by NEBOSH to help develop and pilot the Certificate.í
RRCís extensive portfolio of training methods offers complete flexibility. A range of face-to-face courses cater to those for whom English is either a first or second language. A tutor-supported distance learning programme is designed specifically for self-managed study, offering an effective and non-disruptive method of learning. And RRCís NEBOSH International Certificate e-Learning Programme brings together the key benefits of Distance Learning and Face-to-Face to provide a structured tutor-led programme that allows candidates to choose when and where they study.
RRCís browser-based internet learning environment is fundamental in bridging the gap between traditional distance learning and face-to-face training, featuring tutor-led virtual classrooms, online learning community, enhanced level of tutor support, private mail system, an online reference and resource library and online study materials.
The international nature of the new course clearly makes it ideal for multi-national companies which can take full advantage of RRCís In-company Training. Blended learning solutions provide structured programmes with a combination of delivery methods to suit a companyís individual needs; in-house training offers on-site, bespoke, face-to-face training and corporate e-learning is an interactive, customised web-based programme allowing employees to study at their own pace without leaving their desk.
RRC is also developing a full version of course in German and Arabic, revision notes in French and working on Virtual Reality Practical assessment tool due January 2005.
