Staff, clients and candidates of leading recruitment consultancy Resourcing Solutions applauded company MD Richard Lawrance as he ran the Flora London Marathon, raising 2,000 for local charity Daisyís Dream. Running the marathon in 3 hrs, 15 mins, 3 sec, Richard was in the fastest 7% of all runners, achieving a position of 2,477 out of a total of 35,000 people who entered this world-renowned race.
Daisyís Dream supports bereaved children and their families throughout Berkshire and the surrounding areas, offering advice to families, professionals and anyone concerned about a grieving child. Resourcing Solutions is a long-standing fundraiser for the charity, and Richard decided to devote this yearís marathon efforts to it.
Richard commented: ìDaisyís Dream has been our nominated charity for six months, chosen, not just because of its proximity to our offices but because we support the objectives of the charity and feel it is one on which we can make a significant impact. Weíve participated in a range of activities to date from quiz nights to selling Christmas cards and taking part in the Berlin Marathon and now the Flora London Marathon.î
Richard, who has developed a taste for running marathons, has been involved in 6 so far. Not content with having just finished the London Marathon in a considerably quick time, Richard has said that he intends to raise more funds by running in this Octoberís Chicago Marathon.
He said: ëThe London Marathon is a very special event, and I am glad to have been a part of it. Seeing all the donations and pledges for support really makes it all worthwhile. I would like to thank all those who sponsored me - together we raised vital funds for Daisyís Dream.
