Recruitment company sounds vote of confidence in North-East England

A recruitment company that places workers all round the world has announced the location for its latest expansion - its own doorstep.

TechConsult UK Ltd, based at The Wilton Centre near Redcar, plans to increase its staff with a major priority being to secure more clients based in the North-East of England.

The move is being seen by the company as further evidence of the boom times being experienced in some of the regionís industrial sectors.

TechConsult UK, which operates within the offshore, fabrication and maintenance, process, shipbuilding, and civil engineering industries, believes there are plenty of job opportunities for skilled men and women.

TechConsult provides clients with workers including engineers, technicians, project managers and administration personnel, most of them from the North-East of England.

Managing director Steve Guest said: ìWe work for up to 25 clients, many of them based in the UK, but what we are seeking to do is sign up more clients in the North-East.

ìWe are seeing growth and potential in sectors such as oil and gas, sub-sea, construction, marine and renewables, and want to take advantage of the good things that happening in the North-East.

ìWe feel that we have the people on our books to fill many of the posts being created. The North-East has long had a reputation for skilled engineers and wherever you go in the world you will find engineers from the region at work. They have the kind of skills that are much in demand.

ìWe already send workers to the likes of Australia, the United States and across Europe and now we are expanding with the intention of securing more placements in our own backyard.î

The Wilton Centre operation is part of the Norwegian-based TechConsult Group, whose offices are in Bergen, Oslo and Stavanger, Norway, and four people are employed on Teesside.

Mr Guest said: ìWe hope, as part of our expansion, to employ three further people by the end of the year. We also have plans to open our second UK office in Aberdeen, where we already supply people for the offshore industry.î

TechConsult opened its UK operation in 2006 and first year turnover was 900,000.
