Record month for FE Careers and yet more web developments

January was FE Careers best month to date. With nearly 2 Million hits, well over a million page views and nearly 20,000 unique visitors. The team at FE Careers have been working hard in developing new services over the past year with see the launch of the latest update of the FE Careers job advertising site, with a complete overhaul in the design and many more added features.

We caught up with the CEO Gavin to see the latest developments at FE Careers. ìIím over the moon with what is happening with FE Careers, I can remember we were chuffed when reached 100,000 hits, now we are at 2 Million with nearly 20,000 first time visitors itís great ñ especially as our audience is purely from the Further Education and Work Based Learning industry. I canít wait for FE Video to be hitting these numbers. We deliberately set up FE Video, SearchFE and FE Events as separate sites so we can accurately track their growth. Basically we are adopting the same strategy that we had when we launched FE Careers and FE News back in 2004.î

With all of the developments over the past year, it appears as if FE Careers is still centre stage for Gavin. ìWith all of the web site launches from last year and FE Video going live at the beginning of January, it felt as if we built an extension to our house and now we have to renovate our main building block of FE Careers. FE Video opens up so many opportunities for recruitment branding; it has meant that we are now going through our largest update and development project on FE Careers to date. This is actually our eighth update on FE Careers since 2004, but this is by far the largest. We are completely re-designing FE Careers and incorporating loads of new features, to basically make life easier for our advertisers. Their time is precious, so we are trying to make their lives as easy as possible. I canít wait for March, Iíve really enjoyed myself with the latest developments on FE Careers, it has felt as if we had a clean slate again and put together something that to us internally at FE Careers feels like a new website. Internally, we have been calling it the new site for months - even when we were actually working on three brand new sites with FE Video, FE Events and SearchFE. î

With the last three web site launches, the FE Careers team have developed and launched industry firsts. Gavin was a little cautious in revealing all, but it looks as if they have a few more new strategies up their sleeves. ìThere is no point launching an industry first if no one is interested or it is useless. This latest FE Careers development is not a lick of paint design job; we have really gone back to basics and then come up with a range of developments to save time for our clients. In doing this we have identified several strategies to make life easier for everyone, two of which are industry firsts I believe, well I donít know of anyone else who is using them. What we have taken time to do, is step back and think, what would we do in the ideal World, what makes life easier for advertisers and job seekers. Our latest developments are enhancements and a several brand new ideas; which when you take a step back are blatantly obvious developments, that once ëliveí none of our clients who use them will be able to do without.î

Well roll on March; letís see what time saving strategies the FE Careers team come up with this time. So will Gavin be twiddling his thumbs after the latest FE Careers launch? ìI am absolutely loving it at the moment. Outside of the www world, we are re-jigging some of our internal strategies on operations, sales and marketing ñ which is really interesting actually. It really feels as if we are wiping the slate clean not only with web developments, but on the way the whole FE Careers business is run. This is actually a greater change process to us than when we moved the business from Container City in Docklands to Devon. The internal Business Improvement Process is ongoing, next on our agenda for web developments will be FE News. This is another biggy ñ whole new web development, design, features and strategy for delivering news. Iím pretty excited about this. After this we will be modifying FE Video and FE Events.î
So it looks like its all change at FE Careers. Letís see what sort of Easter present they will be giving us.
