REC raises lots of laughs and money for Comic Relief

Staff and members of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation have been doing Something Funny for Money in aid of Comic Relief.

Chief Executive Kevin Green and Director of Marketing and Member Representation, Anita Holbrow set the standard by donning red noses and shaking their collection buckets during a two day regional roadshow to Yorkshire on Wednesday and Thursday (March 11 and 12).

As a result, 60 recruitment consultants attending the three seminars in Skipton, Leeds and Sheffield contributed more than 205 to Comic Relief with Kevin promising the REC would match all donations.

The fun fund-raising continued on Friday when staff at the RECís London and Woking offices donned blonde wigs, rainbow outfits, a St Trinianís school uniform, making rice crispy cakes and organising a photo caption competition.

The REC has also encouraged members to take part through its new initiative, the One Day Deal, designed exclusively for recruitment consultants in which they can donate proceeds from one of their placements, which in turn could change someoneís life forever.

As a result, the REC has been praised by Mark Merson of the One Day Deal campaign for its publicity for the scheme which has resulted in more than 340 members getting in contact with Comic Relief.

Anita Holbrow added: ìEven in these gloomy times, we should never forget those countless others whose lives are blighted with hardship not just during an economic downturn but year in, year out.

ìRecruitment consultants have the capability of changing peopleís lives on a regular basis by assisting them into new jobs, so Comic Relief is another chance for this industry to make a difference to someone in less fortunate circumstances.î
