Adhering to the RECís code of conduct has paid off for members as they welcomed an increase in discount from 25% to 30% on agency insurance premiums charged by major recruitment industry insurer ACE Europe. The extra discount announced this week and effective from 1st August 2004 was negotiated by Dallas Kirkland (Professions) Ltd., one of the RECís three approved insurance brokers.
Dallas Kirkland put forward the case that the quality of the REC membership had helped reduce the insurerís risk and that the benefits of this should be shared with agencies.
Robin Kirkland, MD of Dallas Kirkland (Professions) Ltd., explained, ëAgencies using the RECís tried and tested contract terms and following its legal and best practice guidelines are less likely to encounter a claim from clients or candidates. This was clearly evidenced by the claims records we keep for the thousands of REC members insuring through us. Reductions will be effective for renewals and new business written through us from 1st August 2004, however minimum premium requirements will remain unchanged.í
Gareth Osborne, MD of the REC, welcomed the news, ëInsurance premiums continue to rise generally in the industry and now make up a significant portion of agency overheads. I am delighted that our broker has pro-actively achieved this discount in recognition of the good practice observed by our membership.í
