Rate Rises Wont Stop Wages Growth

The Olivier Internet Job Index rose 3.30% (SA) in April, although the raw number of jobs on the major Internet job boards dropped marginally. This shouldn’t be interpreted as suggesting that the jobs market came off the boil ahead of the RBA’s interest rate rise.

Our analysis suggests that Easter, Anzac Day and the school holidays had a major effect on the figures this month, although the seasonal adjustment smoothes that out, says Robert Olivier, a Director of the Olivier Group.
