Diversity Consultancy, Performance Through Inclusionís managing director, Tony Burnett, will address the North West Arts Council in February on the importance of measuring diversity and inclusion within their organisations.
During his keynote address at Liverpool Maritime Museum on 8th February, Tony Burnett, will explain the difference between diversity and inclusion and the reasons why it is important to be able to measure it.
ìItís crucially important that organisations involved with the Arts appreciate the difference between diversity and inclusion. Whilst diversity would seek to make consumers from all backgrounds welcome at all Arts events, it doesnít follow that all these groups will genuinely feel theyíre being included,î said Tony Burnett.
Performance Through Inclusion will also run workshops to challenge and provide solutions for many of the current non-diverse recruitment practices used within the Arts.
Tony Burnett, said: ìThe Arts have an objective and business case proved beyond doubt to increase the diversity of organisations within the sector.
ìMany however continue to be unrepresentative of society and the audiences it seeks to attract. One aspect that we will be concentrating on will the sectorís current approach to recruitment.
ìThe aim of the workshops is to challenge current practice and look at the barriers as well as the solutions that exist.î
Performance Through Inclusion recently launched the InclusionIndex and the InclusionAudit, which measure organisational inclusion and analyse policies and practices relating to diversity and Inclusion respectively.
