Organisations across the UK from Shetland to Truro have been shortlisted for the National Council for Work Experienceís annual Awards to be held in London on 12th March.
Launched in 2003, the Awards recognise, encourage and reward employers who take the lead in the provision of valuable work-placement opportunities for students and offer fulfilling work-experience schemes and which help to develop studentsí employability skills.
Sponsored by Centrica, PricewaterhouseCoopers and the Association of Graduate Recruiters (AGR), the 2007/08 NCWE Awards span nine categories. In each category up to eight organisations have been shortlisted from a total Awards entry of over 200 nominations.
Entries were assessed on the employerís written contribution and a judging committee will meet this month to pick the overall winner and runner up for each category. When the results are announced at the London ceremony in March, winners will receive a specially commissioned trophy.
Liz Rhodes MBE, director of the NCWE, commented:
ìYet again, we have seen an extremely high quality of entries for this yearís awards from a wide range of organisations. A well-planned work experience scheme can benefit both employer and employee. Companies can find talented individuals for their particular sector and interns can use a programme to get a taste of different industries and learn skills which will open doors when they find the sector which suits them.î
