Northern Rock has published its fifth Community Report this week

The report outlines the progress made in the field of corporate social responsibility and the key achievements during 2005

The report outlines the progress made in the field of corporate social responsibility and the key achievements during 2005, including:

- Putting in place diversity and equality training for all staff and management

- Establishment of new measures to reduce occupational stress, following a comprehensive assessment of such risks
- inclusion in annual appraisals of staff performance on aspects of CSR

- Appointment of a full-time Amicus union representative on site at head office in Newcastle.

The report also says that the Northern Rock Foundation, which receives five per cent of the UK-based mortgage bank’s pre-tax profits to support charitable causes in the North East of England and Cumbria, was given 24.7million in this way in 2005.
