The Navy is continuing to make a concerted effort to attract recruits, and opportunities are plentiful for jobseekers whoíd like to try something new and are looking for a role that offers career progression, according to the latest SEEK Employment Index.

Recent media reports have outlined the navyís recruitment challenges, including a 37% shortfall in submarine crews and only three full crews for its six Collins-class submarines. In response, Defence Minister Joel Fitzgibbon has pledged that defence force recruitment will be a top priority for the Rudd Government1.

ìThe Navy offers a variety of engaging and interesting job opportunities with competitive salaries and benefits and this should put them in good stead with Australian jobseekers. We are also seeing some interesting opportunities for consultants in the primary industry sector perhaps as the strong Australian dollar throws up challenges for exporters,î said Joe Powell, SEEK Sales Director.
