Morestaff leads the way in ëWorking Timeí changes

ìNever before has the partnership between a Company and its Recruitment Agency been so importantî

ìNever before has the partnership between a Company and its Recruitment Agency been so importantî.

That was the message from Bedfordshire based recruitment Agency Morestaff, who recently hosted an event in conjunction with the REC to discuss the new changes arising from the Working Time Directive introduced on March 23 2005.

Attended by over 40 delegates from a range of businesses, the event provided an excellent opportunity to clarify the responsibilities of the Agency and Company during these changes.

The event started with Colin Shaw, founding partner of Beyond Philosophy, who warmed the audience with his experiences of good and bad customer service.

Richard Bevan from Logistics Company, Christian Salvesen followed, talking specifically about how his Company has prepared itself for the regulations. The session was concluded by Andrew Horner, Chairman of the REC Driverís Section, who explained what both the Company and Agency needed to do to stay compliant.

Matthew Cummings from the REC Legal team was on hand to expertly deal with questions from the delegates.Kathy Doran, Co-director of Morestaff said the event had been a huge success and much had been learned.

ìMost of our clients are aware that the Working Time changes are coming in and many have attended seminars to learn more about the Directive.

ìWhat we have done today is given our clients the opportunity to clarify their understanding with a team of experts and check where responsibilities lie relating to their own situation and that of their agency.

ìIt was about showing them that we are compliant and that we will support them in any way we can to ensure that they are tooî.

Branded as ëThe Moreknowledgeí Seminar it was clear from comments afterwards that the opportunity for two way communication had given Companies much needed clarity.

David Hunter from Gist said:

ìWe had not previously realised that Agencies are responsible for recording hours. The knowledge we have gained here is extremely useful to usî

James Jephcott of Plastic Building Materials (PBM) added that the seminar had given him a better understanding of his Companyís legal obligations in reference to working time, while Chris Hales from Wincanton Logistics said he appreciated Morestaff taking the effort to support and assist their customers through the changes.
