Monster, the leading global online careers property and flagship brand of Monster Worldwide, Inc. today announced it received 3.3 million new and updated resumes during the month of January 2005. Additionally, Monster also announced it reached new daily resume totals surpassing those received the Monday after last yearís Super Bowl.
A record-setting month that outperforms January 2004
During the month of January 2005, Monster experienced 13 separate days where at least 60,000 new resumes were received, setting a company record for the most days in one month where resume submissions exceeded 60,000. Comparatively, at no time during the month of January 2004 did Monster register 60,000 new resumes in one day. In addition, each individual dayís total surpassed the total number of new resumes submitted to the site the Monday after last yearís Super Bowl.
January has been a banner month for Monster. These significant metrics not only indicate the pendulum may be beginning to swing back to the job seekerís court, but such strong resume submissions demonstrate that seekers are excited about the job prospects in 2005, said Steve Pogorzelski, president of Monster, North America. Job seekers and employers are coming to Monster to fulfill all their employment needs - be it to find the right job or hire the perfect candidate - and we are confident our local initiative is helping to enable this connection.
Additional surges in site traffic can be accredited, in part, to Monsterís January Jobs Campaign, which launched January 3rd online and across 180 Infinity Broadcasting radio stations, which span 41 U.S. markets and serve an estimated 70 million weekly listeners and online visitors. They include:
- A 23 percent increase in job applications submitted by job seekers via Monster during the month of January 2005 compared to January 2004.
- A 28 percent increase of employer resume views from January 2004 to January 2005.
The January Jobs Campaign concluded with Monsterís Ultimate Career Day, which included Monster Career Moments hosted by Jeff Taylor. Throughout the month of January and into February, these inspiring one-minute radio clips featured Jeffís interviews with notable businessmen and women, athletes and celebrities, as well as Monsterís own career tips and listener success stories.
We are seeing continued strong momentum in the job market, supported by Department of Labor statistics which reveal a slowing in the growth of productivity levels and rising wages that are creating an optimal environment for hiring, said Jeff Taylor, Founder and Chief Monster. This trend confirms the need for companies to actively recruit to maintain growth and indicates now is the time for job seekers to find great opportunities to help advance their career.
