Mike Tomlinson has welcomed an announcement by the UVAC

Mike Tomlinson, chair of the working group on 14-19 reform, has welcomed an announcement by the University Vocational Awards Council (UVAC)

Mike Tomlinson, chair of the working group on 14-19 reform, has welcomed an announcement by the University Vocational Awards Council (UVAC) that it plans to set up a Progress Group to look at how the final reportís recommendations will affect higher and further education.

Mr Tomlinson said:

As an independent membership body representing both higher and further education institutions with an interest in vocational learning, UVAC is uniquely placed to take the reportís proposals to the next stage - in particular by examining how successful progression from Level 3 through to higher education programmes can be attained.

Professor David Melville, vice chancellor of the University of Kent and chair of UVAC added:

The group will consult with UVACís members to look at the implication of the Tomlinson Review on current FE/HE provision. It will consider how that provision might need to change; and determine what needs to be reflected by the education system up to Level 3 to encourage seamless progression into higher education.
