Metropolitan Housing Trust (MHT) and employment agency The GAIN project have joined forces to stage a jobs fair for Lambeth residents

Metropolitan Housing Trust (MHT) and employment agency The GAIN project have joined forces to stage a jobs fair for Lambeth residents. The event will take place on the 27th March at the Brixton Town Hall from 11am - 4pm.

The fair will see both national and local employers exhibiting in the aim to meet and recruit local residents. Organisations such as Guys St Thomasí, Addecco and NatWest Bank will be at the fair along with The Body Shop and Lambeth Council.

Workshops and seminars will be on offer throughout the day covering areas such as CV writing, completing application forms, interview techniques, public speaking and career advice. Visitors to the fair will also be able to sign up to get ongoing support in seeking employment and support. The aim of the job fair is to provide a means of giving support and opportunities to local residents and contribute to addressing employment issues within the borough.

Angela Hall, MHT Community Initiatives Officer, says of the event: we have deep roots within the London Borough of Lambeth as we are one of the larger housing providers in the borough. As a housing association we donít just provide homes for people we also recognise there are additional needs within their communities and accordingly we work to support them to meet some of their needs. A jobs opportunities event is one way of working with our residents to address some of their unemployment issues. The GAIN project is an organisation that has similar aims to us: wishing to give people opportunities and we look forward to further partnership working in future initiatives which support our residents.

Karen Stone, manager of GAIN, says
The Gain Project has many links with employers and training organisations.

By organising this Job Fair, it will give the opportunity to share our links with the local community with the aim of gaining employment
