Media professionals with a passion for events have the chance of a dream job as part of the Queen’s Baton Relay team.
The baton is currently making its 190,000km journey around all 70 nations and territories of the Commonwealth. A dedicated media team is required to support the Glasgow 2014 Organising Committee in delivering high-impact media moments during the Queen’s Baton Relay in Scotland.
Search Consultancy, the official recruitment supporter for Glasgow 2014, described the roles as a once-in-a-lifetime chance to be part of one of the most engaging elements of the Games.
It has been tasked with recruiting three Media Operations Co-ordinators and two Press Officers to maximise publicity around the epic journey of the baton, which symbolises unity.
Euan McNair, Glasgow 2014 Recruitment Manager, said: “This is a truly spectacular opportunity for motivated and committed media relations professionals who want to be a key part of this world-famous event.
“The successful candidates will be instrumental in delivering the Queen’s Baton Relay media opportunities. This is a story that could be reaching an audience of millions of people, across Scotland, the UK and beyond.
“These jobs with the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games Organising Committee will make an impressive addition to the CV of anyone working in a media career.”
The Press Officers will be expected to liaise with print, broadcast and online media, key stakeholders in Scotland, and Commonwealth Games Associations across the Home Nations. The Media Operations Co-ordinators will provide additional support by assisting in the delivery of local, national and international coverage during the Queen’s Baton Relay through photocalls, press conferences, evening celebrations and more.
Euan added: “We are looking to appoint staff to these roles as soon as possible so we want to hear from media professionals out there who are results-driven; solutions focussed; possess strong relationship-building and communication skills; are driven by company values and who can remain composed in a pressurised environment.”
