Marine company signs recruitment agreement

Darlington-based firm CTC Marine Projects Ltd has signed an agreement with engineering recruitment company TechConsult UK Ltd for the provision of workers for the off-shore industry

Darlington-based firm CTC Marine Projects Ltd has signed an agreement with engineering recruitment company TechConsult UK Ltd for the provision of workers for the off-shore industry.

Under the agreement, TechConsult UK Ltd, which is based at The Wilton Centre, near Redcar, will provide specialist permanent and contract personnel for CTCís many projects in the worldís oceans.

CTC Marine Projects Limited, which is a division of the Trico group, has its head office in Coniscliffe Road, Darlington, and operates a marine base from South Bank, Teesside.

The company, which carries out trenching, cable-laying and associated work for the telecommunications and oil and gas industries around the world, requires highly specialised personnel, something TechConsult UK Ltd can provide because of its expertise in the marine and sub-sea sectors.

Techconsult UK has a large database of skilled workers, many from the North-East of England, which it provides for projects all over the world. They include engineers, technicians, project managers and administration personnel.

TechConsult UK Ltd recently announced an expansion plan on its own doorstep, setting out to secure more contracts within the North-East.

Its managing director Steve Guest said: ìWe have maintained for some time that the North-East is enjoying a boom in sectors including marine and sub-sea. Our agreement with CTC Marine Projects underlines the strength of the sectors.

ìAlready we have provided five specialist personnel and we expect more to follow under the terms of our agreement.

ìCTC is a company that is performing extremely well in the sector and we are delighted to be able to provide some of the skilled people it needs to help fulfil those contracts. The North-East has always enjoyed particular strength in the kind of work that CTC does.î

Nick Lee, CTCís Recruitment Officer, said: ìWe are pleased that we now have this agreement in place with TechConsult. It will greatly assist in streamlining, and therefore, improving our offshore recruitment process.í

TechConsult UK Ltd is part of the Norwegian-based TechConsult Group, whose offices are in Bergen , Oslo and Stavanger , Norway . TechConsult opened its UK operation in 2006 and this yearís turnover is estimated to top 2m.
