Kansas City Royals to Honor Veterans on Military Mondays with Free Admission; Military Veteran Job Seekers Find Civilian Careers at April 24th MilitaryStars Midwest Regional Career Expo, Sponsored by Royals

The Kansas City Royals are in the midst of pulling out a pair of wins for military veterans. Not only is the Major League Baseball club set to hold Military Mondays for Monday home games this season, but theyíre also helping MilitaryStars, the nationís largest military career expo company, find jobs for military veterans.

The Royals will be sponsoring the MilitaryStars Midwest Regional Career Expo in the great Kansas City area at the Marriott Overland Park on April 24, 2007 from noon to 5pm.

The hiring event, exclusively for military veterans, will provide myriad military-friendly employers to the substantial number of military job seekers in attendance. Some will hire on-the-spot; employers consistently conduct interviews and face-to-face introductions throughout each MilitaryStars hiring event.

Sending hiring authorities to the event will be premium sponsor Defense Intelligence Agency, as well as companies ranging from retail giant Target to Proctor and Gamble to DeVry University. Aramark, Penske Truck Leasing, and defense contractors Lockheed Martin and Raytheon will also meet, interview, and potentially hire.

For their part, the Kansas City Royals will market the career expo at their first-ever Military Monday on April 23, 2007 when they take on the Chicago White Sox for the first of a two game stint in Kansas City. The Royals will then put on Military Mondays at Monday home games throughout the season, charging veterans nothing to get in the door with a valid military ID. Additionally, veterans will receive half-off admission with a valid military ID for other weekday games.

ìWeíre thrilled that the Royals are so military-friendly,î said MilitaryStars President Todd Hecht. ìThis is the second time weíve partnered with a MLB team as sponsor for our military hiring events, and the Royals are certainly helping us spread the word to military veterans about our hiring events, which are free for them.î

In 2006, the career expo company partnered with the New York Yankees for a hiring event in the city in August. With over 35 companies attending and sponsoring the event, military veteran job seekers met, interviewed and were extending job offers throughout the day, stemming in large part from the assistance of the ball club.

The Royals will provide the same type of exposure for the Kansas City area, further honoring military veterans for their efforts.
