London and South East Recruitment Awards

.

One of Londonís biggest newspaper publishers has once again teamed up with the eighth largest trade body in the country to stage the London and South East Recruitment Awards.

Archant London, publishers of more than 35 titles in the capital that attract more than 1.3 million readers every week, launched the awards last year to create pride within the recruitment industry and also in the human resources and training departments of all businesses.

Principal sponsor of the event is The Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) which is the professional association representing the UKís dynamic recruitment industry, which is now worth 24.8 million annually to the economy.

The REC is committed to promoting and maintaining professional standards within the industry and its membership comprises of 8,000 businesses and nearly 6,000 recruitment consultants.

Businesses in corporate membership must adhere to a Code of Professional Practice while individual members sign up to a Code of Ethics. Both codes have been developed to ensure jobseekers and employers receive the highest possible standards of recruitment service.

Individual members now enjoy a range of services exclusively tailored towards their professional development through increasing their professional knowledge, skills and status, enabling them to stand out from the crowd in recruitment.

Corporate members are also being encouraged to register their staff as individual members because it demonstrates their level of commitment towards investing in what is seen as the key benefit ñ the recruiters ñ to this fast-moving industry.

The REC has been at the forefront of developing ground-breaking services for the industry such as its Diversity Pledge which won the CBI Trade Association Forumís first ever Social Initiative Award last year.

It is also a member of CIETT, the International Confederation of Employment Agencies and its European counterpart, Euro-CIETT.

Helen Reynolds, Acting Chief Executive Officer of the REC, said: ìWe are all committed to driving standards forward in this industry because this will in turn open new commercial opportunities for those agencies able to demonstrate to clients that they are committed to the highest levels of professional achievement.

ìAt the REC, we regard Archantís awards as an invaluable way of both recognising those who have achieved and as a perfect example of a thriving partnership between the industry and suppliers.

ìWe would like to thank the organisers at Archant for their continuing commitment and support to our industry through these prestigious awards and look forward to working together on such excellent events in the future.î
