Liaison Acquires NHS Activ8 Intelligence to Further Expand its Staffing Services Into the NHS

Liaison, the leading provider of temporary workforce management solutions to the NHS, has completed the acquisition of HR analytics business Activ8 Intelligence Limited in a move that signals its continued growth and development ambitions.

Activ8 provides advanced, analytical HR software that helps organisations more effectively manage their workforce, develop and retain key talent and provide relevant and important insights to HR and management.

The acquisition sees Liaison acquire the 100 per cent share capital of Activ8. The value of the transaction is not disclosed.

It enables Liaison, which already works with two thirds of the NHS to better manage and reduce their temporary staffing costs, to now also help trusts and boards manage their permanent workforce more efficiently and effectively too.

With 1.5 million employees, the NHS is the largest employer in England and Wales and the fifth largest employer in the world. As Liaison’s expertise in temporary staff management has grown, its clients have asked for it to provide a solution for substantive staff and this acquisition will directly address this requirement.

Liaison will continue to build on the commercial success of Activ8’s award-winning ‘Mission Control’ software. Mission Control consolidates and categorises data from any or all of an organisation’s existing HR systems and automatically seeks out hidden insights and trends.

Andrew Armitage, Liaison’s managing director said: “Activ8 is an important strategic acquisition for us as it brings a great team of developers, a long HR heritage, market-leading software and deep experience into the fast-growing workforce management and analytics space.

“It also enables us to offer our clients a total workforce management solution with greater data interrogation across their temporary and substantive workforce, helping to inform workforce strategy.”

Matthew Lymbery, CEO of Activ8 said: “I am immensely proud of the software we’ve developed which changes the way HR works with data, and I am delighted to be joining Liaison on their journey to help the NHS save money and operate more efficiently to meet the growing demand for its services that it faces. This is an important objective for the country and one in which I believe the enlarged business can help play a really effective part.”

In 2014, Liaison acquired technology firm 3 Blue Dots which enabled it to offer a unique end-to-end temporary workforce management solution to NHS trusts and health boards where agency and bank staff could be managed through an integrated system.
