Jonathan Ross has topped a poll carried out by Select Appointments about celebrities that people would most want to face in a job interview. Over a third of participants indicated that they would prefer his laid back style to the more motherly approach of Lorraine Kelly, or the stupidity of Ali G. Surprisingly, Michael Parkinson came last in the poll.
The poll of over 1,000 people from a variety of industries indicated that the ideal style for interviews is informal and chatty. The findings also show that interviewees want a boss who is intelligent, has a sense of humour and is approachable.
Debbie Seeley of Select Appointments said: These findings suggest that UK workers want to feel at ease during an interview but are also keen to be dealt with in a professional and knowledgeable manner. Prospective employees look to the interviewer to get a feel for the culture of the company, so it is vital that interviewers are able to strike the right balance of professionalism and approachability in an interview to gain the best insight into prospective employees. We offer our clients help and advice on the interview process, as well as providing a thorough checklist of what they should find out before and during the interview, and on making a selection.
