Youíve seen the TV adverts now learn about the reality! Key Personnel Group and one of its divisions, PBS (UK) Ltd has been hit by the theft of its online corporate identity.
Some unknown individual decided to use our URL, pbs.uk.com as well as our company name and address, within the content of an email message titled ìBill Payment Not Approved.î The message indicated the receiver owed PBS (UK) Ltd 755.00. With the ìSPAMMERî spoofing the return email address to one which would be received by PBS, this deceived recipients into thinking the email was legitimate.
This resulted in the company website receiving a months worth of traffic in a single day and problems with communication through email due to the number of people trying to contact us. Our main telephone number was also inundated with calls from concerned recipients.
The companyís IT department swiftly put in place contingency plans that enabled PBS to continue providing its payroll service to clients.
ìWe placed a message regarding the spam on the home page of our corporate web site and worked with 3rd parties to deal with the huge volume of emailî Anna Southall PBSí IT Manager continues ìIts important for all companies to have such contingency planning in place as these type of events can close all your communication channels for an indefinite period of time.î
PBS (UK) Ltd is soon to become part of the Key Personnel Group which has been operating for over 2 decades and provides a range of Business Services to public and private sector organisations. For further information about the Key Personnel Group or any of its services call 0115 958 3300 or visit:
