IHRIM forms foundation to promote research and education in HR information management

BURLINGTON, Mass. ó The International Association for Human Resources Information Management (IHRIM) announced today it formed the Human Resource Information Management (HRIM) Foundation. This independent, charitable, 501(c)(3) organization will promote scholarships, research and education to drive innovation, and the use of technology and information management in the human resource (HR) profession.

As part of this effort, the HRIM Foundation plans to:

ï Fund scholarly publications on specific HR and HRIM issues.

ï Encourage development of educational programs and course curriculum to advance the HRIM profession.

ï Sponsor educational events about current and emerging HR technology.

ï Conduct research and development activities related to HRIM and the needs of HR systems professionals.

ï Fund the development of a professional certification program designed to solidify and enhance the HRMS profession.

ï Develop and nurture funding sources for the Foundationís work.

ìIHRIM is very excited about the HRIM Foundation and its goal of further enhancing the HRIM profession,î said Lynne Mealy, president of IHRIM. ìWe believe it will play a vital role in enriching our industry.î

While IHRIMís chapters provided initial seed money to fund the foundation, a taskforce has been formed to raise additional funding. IHRIM plans to host the inaugural HRIM Foundation dinner at its annual Conference and Technology Expo on Monday, June 2, at the Contemporary Resort in Orlando, Fla.
