IBM and Spectrum executive to receive IHRIM Summit Award at Annual Conference

Dr. Carl Hoffmann, IBM global and Americas leader for the More from People Solution and global lead for HR On Demand; and James E. Spoor, founder and president of SPECTRUM Human Resource Systems Corporation, have been named recipients of the 2006 IHRIM Summit Award. The Summit Award, IHRIMís highest, recognizes members who have made significant, long-term contributions to the advancement of the associationís mission and goals, and have facilitated the exchange of ideas, solutions and information about issues impacting the management of human resource information. The awards will be presented at IHRIMís 26th Annual Conference in Washington, DC, April 9-12.

Dr. Hoffmann, founder of Hoffmann Research Associates, directs IBMís Human Capital Solutions consulting practice area encompassing performance leadership, data warehousing, decision support and knowledge management. In that capacity, he provides strategic human resource and business process redesign consulting services to assist organizations in implementing technology and processes that optimize the effectiveness of their workforces, for such companies as Novartis, Bristol Myers Squibb, Pfizer, Glaxo SmithKline and Merck. With more than 23 years of experience, Dr. Hoffmann is a recognized expert in the areas of human resource systems and re-engineering, as well as HR analysis (including statistical analysis) and reporting, and serves on the Editorial Advisory Board of the IHRIM Journal.

Jim Spoor is founder and president of SPECTRUM Human Resource Systems Corporation. Since itís founding more than 20 years ago, SPECTRUM has established itself as a leading provider of HR, benefits administration, talent acquisition, and training and development systems to high expectation mid-market organizations. Prior to forming SPECTRUM in 1984, he had a successful career covering more than 25 years in HR, line management, and global HR operations with respected Fortune 500 corporations in the energy, high-tech and food processing industries. He is a respected visionary, pioneer, and innovator who focuses on exploiting technology to address strategic business issues.

He has authored many articles, been a contributing author to several professional handbooks and textbooks, and has been a frequent speaker and panelist on diverse topics including HR, HR systems, entrepreneurism, and emerging trends in technology. He is involved in several professional and civic organizations including service on IHRIMís Board of Directors and its Steering Committee for the Global Special Interest Group, Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), The Council of Growing Companies, where he served as president and chairman emeritus, and The Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center, a non-profit organization serving the outdoor experience needs of individuals with disabilities. He is also a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of the IHRIM Journal.
