How to create a perfect reading nook

Are you book-obsessed? Does the perfect evening for you involve curling up with a hot brew and escaping into the pages of your favorite novel?

Well, then you need to create a custom space to enjoy your favorite hobby! Reading nooks are easy to make - you only need a few pieces of choice furniture, some cosy textiles, and the proper lighting. Let us talk you through it!

Location, location, location!

Every home is somewhat limited by space and layout. But for a reading nook, you only need a tiny spot - just enough to fit a chair, a lamp and maybe a little coffee or side table. Choose a quiet place and preferably by a window so you can take advantage of the natural light. Try to think outside the box - your reading nook doesn't just have to be in the living room (where you’d most likely put it instinctively), but perhaps in a spacious hallway or a bedroom or study.

Sit comfortably

The essential piece of furniture in a reading nook is, without a doubt, the armchair. It's up to you whether you prefer a large and comfortable chaise lounge (the ultimate luxury), a retro design style, a classic wingback, a squishy recliner, or a minimalist Scandi design. As long as your new reading chair is comfortable and you can sit in it for hours without back pain - it’s your choice! Our tip is to add a footrest of some kind.

Additional furniture

Ideally, there should still be room for a coffee table next to the chair. After all, you need somewhere to put your tea, right? You’ll only need a small round table where you can fit the essentials. If you're lucky enough to have more space for your reading corner, you might even be able to add some more bookshelves or a small bookshelf!

Light it up

Every reading corner needs ample lighting. Bad lighting means terrible reading! Choose your lighting carefully - make sure it’s both bright enough and looks nice. If there's space, you may prefer a floor lamp that you can place behind the armchair. Of course, you can also see the light on a table or mount it on the wall. A lamp with an adjustable shade that you can direct as required is ideal.

Decor matters

You already have the essentials in your reading corner. Now it’s time to bring in a few accessories to make it even cosier. Perhaps a scented candle, a houseplant in a beautiful pot or a warm blanket to snuggle up in. Then all you need to do is open a book and get reading!

Have many accessories

Every room requires one or two accessories to make it look unique and not too plain. You should know that much of your reading book groundwork covers about 1-5 points though you can change this by looking for an armchair since it is very comfortable and you will be able to read your book with a lot of ease.

You can also add a substantial plump cushion on your laps as you read. For your feet, you can decide to purchase a luxurious underfoot to make your feet comfortable enough. All these things are essential when you want to enjoy your reading space. You can also look for something to drink as you read since you are very comfortable.

Get a book space

If you have such a huge room where you do your reading, you could opt to have a book space for easier tracking of your books. You could start with a tiny Chichester sideboard called 3ft book space that allows you to create a small library within your reading nook. Though if you have a small space, don't worry about it; you could still use your side table, and the best furniture for this is the Coniston that can help you to place your books on the lowermost shelf and the one currently on top of your frame.

Wear something comfortable

Every person usually has an outfit to feel comfortable and relax after a long day or goes anywhere. An example of something comfortable could be a buggy hoodie with shorts or a pair of sweatpants with a sweatshirt. Anything you feel comfortable in is the best food you want to read in your book space. Such clothes will make sure you read your book for long hours as your body has been let loose. Also, remember to make sure you are as warm as possible. You don't want to catch a cold in the middle of your reading.

Open a window

Open your window and allow some air to come into your space; this is amazing for listening to the wind around and chill as you meditate. This will help you to open your mind and body before you start reading your favorite book. When you open your window, sunlight will also come into your room, making it brighter, and you don't have to switch on the lights in your room during the day. Sunlight also allows you to be in a good mood, and it will also raise your spirits.

Get your best drink and snack

Before deciding what you want to read from your book nook, grab your favorite snack and drink. You could bite on something as you read through your book, and in case you are not hungry, you could place them on your table, and you could grab them any time you want.

Enjoy your space

Every reader has a perfect place that they love to read from; others love reading in their beds while others have a small library in their homes. The most important thing is for you to enjoy your book somewhere comfortable.

Conclusion

Everyone who enjoys reading their favorite books needs to have a reading nook that is pretty and comfortable. It would help if you considered the things listed above to enjoy your book and have a good time reading it.
