Some 96% of respondents said that they used Skype to talk online to friends and family finding it a cost effective way of keeping in touch but surprisingly only 15% of respondents said that they were using the same technology in the workplace to speak to customers.
As a company in the people business PCR has actively encouraged both clients and candidates to use interactive messaging tools as a quick and responsive way of communicating and sending through information.
Our consultants are already using tools such as AIM and MSN as an easy, quick and discreet way of letting candidates know about opportunities.
said Judith Blair, managing director PCR it is a particularly good way of communicating with contract consultants who want to know about immediate vacancies and of course for sorting out interview times with busy hiring managers. It is ideal for people who may not have the time to constantly check emails but can give a 20 second response to a question popping up in a chat box.
Webcam was a popular tool with some 64% of respondents saying that they used webcam regularly. And it's a tool that PCR are planning to incorporate into their interview process by replacing first stage telephone interviews with a webcam experience with second round interviews would be held face to face
And it seems that people are serious about downloading in the new 2.0 web world - with less than 10% of respondents saying that they hadn't downloaded either pod or vodcasts to their ipod or pc.
