In case you haven’t heard the expression these are parents who hover over their kids and are a major part of every decision the kids make, to the extent of often making the decision for them.

We don’t have this in China, do we?. I mean one-child policy kids are so independent, right? And when your company makes an offer to them they don’t complicate matters by discussing it endlessly with their parents, grandparents and any other relative who happens to be visiting, right?.

Thank heavens one-child policy parents never get to the job interview stage. That has to be the ultimate nightmare for a recruiter in China.

’Hi, we’ve come here for an interview! Now, can we begin discussing my son’s compensation package ...’
