HILTON UK & Ireland has linked up with national charity Shaw Trust, the country’s leading provider of employment services for people with disabilities and disadvantages, to open their doors to thousands of job-hungry people in the UK.
Hilton UK & Ireland, which employs over 15,000 people in 77 hotels in the region, has signed the crucial contract as part of its drive to promote diversity. The agreement means that Shaw Trust clients who are struggling to find work because of disabilities, ill health or social circumstances will easily be able to access all of Hilton’s vacancies nationwide.
Shaw Trust hopes that the agreement, its third high profile signing, will prompt other industry giants to follow suit by using expert help to fuel their equality and diversity programmes.
Hilton UK & Ireland employs a wide range of skills in prime locations across the region. Wolfgang M. Neumann, Area President, welcomed the partnership. Hilton UK & Ireland is committed to doing business in a responsible way, and this agreement absolutely defines our belief in providing the best job opportunities for those who are best equipped to serve our guests whatever their circumstances, he said.
At Hilton we rely on our employees to provide the high quality of service guests and customers expect, and we believe our agreement with Shaw Trust will provide us with access to a pool of very talented and experienced individuals who might not apply for jobs directly as a result of their circumstances.
Shaw Trust’s Director of Employment Malcolm Goldsby commented: It’s always great news when a major employer recognises the contribution that people with disabilities can make to their business.
We are particularly pleased to be working with Hilton UK & Ireland, not least because of the sheer variety of careers they are able to offer our clients.
We are delighted that Hilton have chosen Shaw Trust to help them promote diversity and equality.
Shaw Trust offers a recruitment service and staff retention packages to thousands of companies. Recent national recruitment contracts have recently been signed with Tesco and Barclays plc, and the business team is in talks with several other major employers.
Up to now we have had to work from the bottom up, by knocking on doors to try to place people locally, added Malcolm Goldsby.
Clearly that takes time and what we need is for big companies to take the initiative as Hilton UK & Ireland has done.
