The UK, European and Middle Eastís hospitality jobboard, Hcareers.co.uk is strengthening its partnerships with leading Hospitality recruiters.
Sales director Jimmy Kyriacou states ìHcareers.co.uk has been helping Hotels and restaurants find staff since 1998, and traditionally our core business has always been directly with the Hotels and Restaurants themselves. This trend is now changing.
The hospitality industry in the UK has rapidly expanded in the past five years. This growth is reflected in the increased amount of opportunities for graduates. There is also a current shortage of skilled staff. Subsequently, this has created a recent surge in the number of recruitment consultancies which are now benefitting from candidates already visiting the site.
Kirsty Hayes of Select Hospitality says ìWe have worked with hcareers since we opened Select Hospitality in April 2006, through the website we have managed to attract the best hospitality candidates whilst also raising our own company profile. An important factor in this industryî
How big is this sector?
The industry is made up of about 127,000 businesses and employs a workforce of 1.6 million people.
There are approximately 22,000 hotels and guest houses, plus around 16,000 bed and breakfasts, in the UK .
Restaurants employ over 500,000 full-time and part-time staff.
Contract catering and hospitality services account for 19% of the sector (all figures from Trends and Statistics, British Hospitality Association).
London and Southeast England have the largest proportion of hotels, bars and restaurants, although vacancies exist across the UK. The hospitality sector is truly international; skills learned in one country can be practised throughout the world. It has a truly global reach.
Jimmy continues ìWe are helping recruiters across the whole of Europe and also the Middle Eastî Daniel Griggs, Director of BBT Global Resourcing, statesî Hcareers has allowed us to tap into a pool of candidates for our hospitality roles across the Middle East, and in particular our ever increasing business in Dubaiî
Not everyone who works in hospitality work directly in the hotels and restaurants themselves. Chris Denison Smith of FM Recruitments says ìWe use Hcareers as an essential recruitment tool to ensure that hotel sector finance professionals worldwide find us when they are looking for a great career moveî
We mustnít forget the hotels themselves, as an ever increasing number are now finding online recruitment to be an integral part of their recruitment strategy.
A survey produced by Hcareers.co.uk in December, found that 57% of staff within a selection of premiere Hotel brands had found employment online.
Jimmy Kyriacou continues ìIt is now a myth to believe that Hotel staff do not use the internet when looking for their next move. Last month hcareers.co.uk attracted over15,000 applications to jobs in Hotels and restaurants in the UK aloneî
Joanne Meredith, training and development manager at the Ritz hotel London says ìOnline Job boards have certainly helped our recruitment process over the years, and have proven to be a very cost effective solutionî
