Walkers wanted for Moonlight Colourthon
After months of careful planning, this week sees the official public launch of the ’Moonlight Colourthon’, organised by Southend Round Table in association with the well known local company ñ KeyMed.
The ’Moonlight Colourthon’ is a Half Marathon charity power-walk that will take place in and around Southend on the evening of Saturday 7th July 2007 (or 07/07/07).
Inspired by the various London based charity walks, the ’Moonlight Colourthon’ will take place at night time, with walkers who enter being encouraged to wear bright and colourful clothes to illuminate Southend, and draw attention to the whole spectacle.
During the day, there will be a complimentary event designed for anyone either younger than 16 or not wishing to complete the 13.1 miles walk this is called the ’Sunlight Colourthon’. It is hoped that local schools, scout groups etc. will get behind this and use it as a means to generate much needed funds for themselves.
Lead organiser for Southend Round Table, Julian Hart said. ìWeíre all very excited about the Colourthon events and already have a good feeling that it will go on to become an annual event. Application forms for the event are available from today throughout many locations in the Southend area or from our official event website ñ www.moonlightcolourthon.co.uk.î
ìWe need the public to read this and want to get involved and take up our ’triple 7 challenge’. With such help, the Colourthon has the potential to really make a real difference to Registered Charities in the area.î
Walkers wishing to enter either Colourthon event must nominate a Registered Charity who they will collect sponsorship money for. If theyíre not sure who to walk for, the official event website may give them some inspiration where many charities are already registered with the event Associated Charities.
Come on, donít delay, pick up your form and start training today for the triple 7 challenge.
