According to specialist recruitment website constructionjobs.ie, job opportunities in the Middle East are attracting and increasing number of construction professionals.
The Middle East now accounts for 20 percent of all applications traffic through the website. The UK continues to perform well, at 10 per cent of applications, with other regions of the world (Mainland Europe, Australia/New Zealand, North America, Africa and South America) accounting for 10 per cent of applications.
Constructionjobs.ie director Paraic Kelly comments: There has been significant growth in the number of job applications for positions in the Middle East and Gulf region states in the past few months. Activity on the website site indicates there is a particular requirement for construction and engineering professionals for building, civil and oil and gas projects.
He continues: As a growing number of Irish and UK based construction professionals begin to look at other global construction opportunities, an increasing number of firms with no strong Irish or UK links are starting to recruit through the website. This is a trend we welcome and expect to continue.
Ireland, at 60 percent, remains the first choice location for job applications through constructionjobs.ie. But this figure will reduce if Irish construction market conditions continue their downward trend. Overseas a number of construction hotspots offer significant job opportunities on the short to medium term for construction professionals based in Ireland and the UK.
Commenting on activities in other parts of the world he says: With upcoming events such as the South African World Cup 2010, London Olympics 2012 and indeed the Euro 2012 Football Championships, co-hosted by Poland and Ukraine, we expect to see recruitment activity across Eastern Europe and South Africa as well as the UK to grow considerably in the coming 12 months.
During the month of May the number of unique jobseekers to visit constructionjobs.ie website remained very high at 35,000, a 75 per cent jump on the number of unique hits for the same period last year.
Paraic Kelly says: These figures not only emphasise our position as the Number One recruitment web site in the Irish market for construction and engineering job information, we also have established a strong reputation for delivering for clients in the UK and further afield in the global construction recruitment market. And over the coming months we will be rolling out a number of initiatives to increase our international presence.
