FE Careers announce redesign of their FE News service

www.FEnews.co.uk has just gone through their biggest re-design in their history. FE News is the sister site of FE Careers who specialise FE and Work Based Learning job advertising. FE News is run as a separate service, but as a value added model for job seekers and as a source of potential candidates for FE Careers advertisers. Gavin the CEO of FE News and FE Careers explains ìOur audience on FE News are all potential candidates for advertisers on FE Careers. They are the elusive candidate who is not looking for a new job, many are not registered with agencies or looking on job sites ñ they just want to keep up with the latest Work Based Learning and FE NewsÖ but could be tempted by the ultimate role! Thatís where our link with FE Careers becomes very powerful.î

FE News has just completed a major re-design, offering their audience 4 sources of news. FE News are providing Exclusive Articles from industry experts, they have their pool of journalists working on breaking stories, a news stream providing FE and Work Based Learning articles from across the web and a new Press Release service, enabling visitors to see emerging stories before they hit a journalistís desk. Gavin explains the theory behind the new FE News ìThere is more than one side to every story. Our audience can now read several different perspectives and sources on major stories in Further Education, and make their own minds on stories. Weíre all too sophisticated to be spoon fed news, our audience want to make up our own minds. Weíre just enabling to see stories from different angles and to see what other media sources are saying about stories in the FE sectorî.

ìWhat is surprising to me is how much our audience has taken to our new Press Release service ñ as they can see press releases from anyone in FE, Work Based Learning and Skills and see them in real time, sometimes before a reporter has had a chance to look at the story. To be honest marketers and PR specialists really like this as they can track how many people have been reading their stories. News readers can also leave comments. Our early feedback is that everyone seems to like this, PR people see what response their getting, our visitors get a total picture of the industry ñ everyoneís happy - so allís goodî.

The release of FE News comes less than a week before the re-design and development of FE Careers. ìIím going greyer by the second, the new FE Careers site is due to go live on Wednesday. I think Iíll breath a big sigh of relief on Friday ñ itís going to be quite a hectic 7 days here at FE Careers!î

With the major overhaul to FE News out of the way, we can only wait and wonder what major developments are coming from FE Careers. We have been told that this is a major development on FE Careers, with the look of the FE News site itís going to be a big one. We have also heard a whisper that in the next couple of weeks FE Careers are also going to announce that FE News and FE Events have gone mobile, with accessibility available on iphones, blackberryís and WAP. They are keeping busy!
