Allena Clarke, who’s been in the recruitment business for almost 20 years, has set up Allena Clarke Appointments, (ACA) along with her business partner Emily Gilroy.
It just seemed like the right thing to do, said Allena from their new offices on Shakespeare Street in Newcastle. I’ve worked all over the country for several blue-chip companies and realised that here in the North East we had a serious need for a firm that could find and place people into jobs. There’s also a need for the ability to allow potential employees to search for a job by themselves.
Allena added;
I knew that if I was going to do my own thing then now was the ideal time to do it. Emily started working with me five years ago...we immediately hit it off...so we decided to set up our own agency.
Allena was most recently a director with Securicor, controlling recruitment throughout Scotland, Northern Ireland and Northern England. She has extensive experience within both the public and private sector.
Emily joined recruitment directly from university. She has worked with a broad spectrum of businesses, ranging from small, local companies to multi-national. Emily tends to specialise in the service aspects of industry but is also highly skilled in writing computer software for companies.
Gerald McGill, Personnel Manager for Royal Mail commented;
Allena Clarke was able to influence the Area Management board with their proposals and successfully introduce staff to key areas. Ultimately, the operation managers preferred this arrangement as it provided greater flexibility and less training. The requirement was always at short notice. At no time was the need unfilled. They display exemplary levels of integrity and adhere to the principles and standards expected within the business domain.
ACA has set up an interactive website, www.allenaclarke.co.uk that allows both companies and individuals to gain job advice, how to fill in a CV, view vacancies and tips on how to prepare for interviews.
We want to give people the best possible chance to find a job, concluded Allena Clarke. It is their career... it is their life. Invariably, there are vacancies waiting to be filled. We aim to fill those vacancies as quickly and appropriately as possible.
ACA is growing rapidly. An additional senior member of staff will be joining them within the next few weeks and, by the end of September, the company is expected to employ a further five consultants.
