Employers welcome Health Education England’s mandate

NHS Employers says many of the priorities in the new Health Education England mandate, launched by the Government today (1 May 2014), will resonate with employers

NHS Employers says many of the priorities in the new Health Education England mandate, launched by the Government today, will resonate with employers.

Sue Covill, director of employment services at the NHS Employers organisation, said:

"Employers will welcome the focus on ensuring a more flexibly trained workforce more able to face up to the changing nature of care. It's great to see a focus on values as well as the skills of all our staff, not just on doctors and nurses. We have already developed a tool that will help local employers map local values to the NHS constitution. We are also delighted to see increased emphasis on community based care.

“Many of the priorities highlighted in the mandate will resonate with employers and they will be keen to ensure their continued engagement in creating sustainable, effective patient services for the populations in their care.

“Planning and developing our massive workforce effectively is at the heart of delivering safe, high quality patient care.”
