Manufacturing Companies from across the eastern region will have the opportunity to see how the expertise and cutting edge research conducted at Cranfield University can benefit their business. Cranfield is offering an open invitation to companies to attend the Cranfield University Manufacturing Open Day on November 18, aimed at showcasing the universityís capabilities whilst facilitating knowledge exchange and networking.

The event, which falls within the Manufacturing Advisory Serviceís Manufacturing Exchange Fortnight, allows delegates to attend a series of short ëMeet the Expertí sessions with Cranfield academics, tour some of the unique facilities housed at Cranfield, view in-depth case studies and examples of knowledge transfer activities in the exhibition area and network with colleagues and academic staff over lunch.

The Cranfield University Manufacturing Open Day will cover a wide range of manufacturing topics and areas such as, coatings, composites, welding, motorsport, nanotechnology, precision grinding and cost engineering.

Paul Kitson, Head of Business Communication at Cranfield believes the open day will be extremely beneficial for everyone, ìat Cranfield we have a vast depth of knowledge and expertise but at present we donít share that with our wider business community as well as we might. Events such as the Manufacturing Open Day provide us with the perfect opportunity to engage with local companies, allow them to find out more about us and for them to take advantage our facilities and research.î

Throughout the day delegates will be able to speak to experts from various different sectors within the manufacturing industry, see case studies detailing how Cranfield has worked with companies in the past and have the opportunity to ëask the expertí both in specialised sessions and as they move around the exhibits.
