Close Shave for Charity

An employee of Bond International Software (UK) Ltd made a real haircut statement in the name of charity last weekend

An employee of Bond International Software (UK) Ltd, the Goring based recruitment software specialists, made a real haircut statement in the name of charity last weekend.

The Company were delighted to sponsor their employee taking part in the 2006 London Marathon at the weekend, but Tim Richards, Managing Director had one condition before the cheque was signed;

Nik Holden-Brown, Technical Consultant, must have Bondís circular logo shaved into the back of his head so they would sponsor his run.

Nik said himself that he would ëdo anything to get sponsorshipí for his chosen charity as it was one he holds close to his heart. Nik ran for the National Deaf Childrenís Society as his 19 month old daughter Ella, is profoundly deaf and he managed to raise an impressive 2,200 for the charity. NDCS is the only UK charity solely dedicated to providing support, information and advice for deaf children and young people.

Nik found the whole event a ìwonderful experienceî and even admitted he would do it again next week if his legs didnít ache so much. Nik ran the marathon for the second time at the weekend with the time of 3 hours 43 minutes and even passed Gordon Ramsay stretching his painful limbs on the way to the finish line. This respectable time was achieved after training since New Yearís Day this year at every lunch time, a total of 550 miles and two pairs of trainers!

Nik adds ìthe crowds were incredible, people were shouting your name, it was deafeningî. The NDCS had a total of 50 runners in the Marathon and have raised a staggering 50,000.

Well worth a bit of employee branding!
