CIPD unveils finalists shortlisted for the 2008 People Management Award

The sixteen finalists of the 2008 People Management Award have been announced today following a rigorous selection process

The sixteen finalists of the 2008 People Management Award have been announced today following a rigorous selection process. The award acknowledges outstanding practice in the management and development of people and this year is structured around four categories, each with four finalists, on employee engagement; learning and development; management of change; and talent management.

A winner and a runner up within each category will be chosen from the finalists at judging day on 17July 2008. The announcement will officially be made at the CIPD Annual Conferenceís Gala Dinner on 17 September in Harrogate. The coveted overall People Management Award will be presented to the company whose achievement transcends the individual categories. Last year this was awarded to Network Rail.

Jackie Orme, CIPD Chief Executive, who will be helping to judge the awards says: ìIím hugely impressed by the response and range of initiatives across the sectors this year. The CIPD will continue to reward and encourage good people management and development and we are delighted that 2008 has seen the highest level of entries in the history of the Award so far. Iíd like to congratulate all those involved this year for driving forward the issues that matter in the HR profession.î
