CIPD presents Big Brothers perspective on why actions speak louder than words

HRD 2004, CIPD annual Learning, Training and Development Conference and Exhibition, 20-22 April 2004, Olympia London

Peter Collett, Big Brother psychologist and author will explore why actions speak louder than words. Collett will draw on his experiences with Big Brother and use material from his new book The Book of Tells to help bosses focus on the messages they unwittingly send and understand the influence these might have on their employees.

The conference will show how success depends on what you do, what you say and the steps you should take in order to ensure employees develop with your company and improve the performance of your organisation.

HRD 2004, the UKís largest forum for training and development, brings leading experts to showcase the latest trends in the field. The event has over 40 seminars, linking case studies, interactive workshops and debates including:

*Sally Gunnell, former Olympic athlete, motivational speaker and television presenter, on how to motivate yourself and your team

*Camilla Aitchison, Director of Management Development at Dixons Group Plc, on how to make good leaders great

*Kevin Warwick, Professor of Cybernetics at Reading University, on the quest for intelligence

*Robin Sieger, Founder of Sieger International Limited, on creating a success culture

The event also marks the launch of CIPDís training and development survey 2004, which will include findings to show the impact of Government skills initiatives, how the economic situation is affecting training spend, what is being done to encourage and promote learning and what type of coaching organisations are using.
