91% of UK IT workers feel their careers would benefit from a chartered accreditation but donít realise one already exists, according to new research.
The British Computing Society (BCS) offers a Chartered IT Professional credential (CITP). But a survey of 387 IT professionals conducted by Firebrand Training, shows that most IT staff are simply unaware of its existence.
The Accelerated Learning pioneer, formerly The Training Camp, is calling for BCS to promote CITP to IT workers far more dynamically, in order IT professionals to prove their competence and commitment to advancing their technical knowledge to current or new employers.
ìMost industries benefit from having a chartered accreditation, and IT is no exception,î explained Rob Chapman, CEO, Firebrand Training. ìBut many professionals are missing out, simply because they havenít heard of it.î
ìItís imperative technical skills are kept up to scratch ñ and accreditation is a great way to prove this on a level playing field,î he added. ìBut it seems that too many people are oblivious to it. Chartered status could be the best-kept secret in IT ñ but by keeping it so low profile, the BCS is missing a major trick.î
