Careers & Jobs Live incorporating theGRADfair is the leading series of Recruitment, Careers, Training and Education exhibitions in the UK. Building on the success of its record-breaking show at ExCeL in March, organisers Jarvis Exhibitions Ltd will be returning to Olympia from 31st October to 1st November 2004.
The show is an ideal way for employers to save time and money as it enables them to meet candidates face-to-face, under one roof. For job seekers it is an excellent opportunity to present themselves to potential employers and get an instant interview.
The event at Olympia features the theGRADfair, which has its own dedicated area. New this year is GradSelect, a zone within theGRADfair for small to medium sized employers. It offers an economical way for companies looking for 10 graduates or less to meet the right candidates and a way for graduates to get a foot in the door and make a big difference in a smaller organisation.
TheBigChoice, an online recruitment site for graduate employers and jobseekers will be exhibiting at the show and will help co-ordinate the area. The company who has a large list of Blue Chip clients, also specialises in placing graduates in small to medium sized companies.
Managing Director of TheBigChoice, Simon Andrews believes that the SME area of the job market should not be overlooked: Traditionally, there were plenty of graduate schemes open to the right candidates in Blue Chip companies. In today’s job market these placements are harder to find, so graduates should not overlook the opportunities available in smaller companies. Such organisations offer the potential to get involved right at the heart of the company and as a result candidates tend to move on up the ladder more quickly.
Exhibition Director, Bruce Birchall, agrees, At the show we are aiming to get people into graduate positions by utilizing a larger breadth of employers. The new GradSelect Zone offers job seekers a greater chance of getting their dream job in today’s competitive market place. It also provides a cost effective way for the smaller employer to meet the best candidates face-to-face.
Careers & Jobs Live and theGRADfair is free to all jobseekers and has consistently attracted many Blue Chip exhibitors. And this year is no exception; already lined up to exhibit is the London Fire Brigade, the Metropolitan Police, RAF, First Group Transport, Tesco and ECIS.
Exhibition Director, Bruce Birchall commented: The number of exhibitors returning again in 2004 is a testament to the effectiveness of the show. It is a great way for employers to meet high volumes of people under one roof. The majority of our candidates come well presented, with a quality CV, setting themselves well on their way to making that all important first impression with potential employers.
And, the show is not just for graduates, there will also be plenty of exhibitors for all types of jobseekers at Careers & Jobs Live including apprentice schemes, training opportunities as well as those looking for gap year inspiration.
Other features of the show include a free CV clinic, which will offer expert advice on getting your CV into shape. The Wall of Opportunity, a popular area of the show, will also return with thousands of job vacancies and training opportunities to choose from. The employer’s stand numbers are listed to enable the candidate to go for an instant one to one chat. This year the show will also feature a crche for the first time to offer added support to job-seeking parents.
