Careers and Jobs Live and theGRADfair returns to Olympia

Exciting new zone for jobseekers - The Smaart Zone

Britain’s premier recruitment, careers and training fair, Careers and Jobs Live and theGRADfair, is returning to Olympia for what promises to be the biggest recruitment event this year. Careers and Jobs Live is the UK’s premier recruitment fair, last year attracting over 15,000 visitors.

The Smaart Zone, an exciting zone that is brand new this year, is an initiative aimed at 16-18 year olds thinking about their future. Whether it be a choice of further or higher education, a modern apprenticeship or simply deciding which direction to take their career in, all visitors to the Smaart Zone will receive excellent advice and even opportunities to apply for jobs there and then with the many exhibitors.

The Smaart Zone will be part of the Careers & Jobs Live section of the exhibition, based on the ground floor at the Olympia Exhibition Centre. There will be several exciting features, like a cookery school giving out professional cookery advice. The Smaart Zone will focus particularly on those looking for work who would perhaps benefit from some vocational training. With this in mind, a trained careers professional will be on hand to discuss options and give advice within a specialist careers section set up within the zone. Several exhibitors will be handing out magazines and brochures, explaining what their company does and what opportunities they can offer young people.

The Smaart Zone is being put together by Smaart Publishing (in conjunction with Jarvis Exhibitions), who produce a magazine for 16 -18 year olds packed full of advice on everything from modern apprenticeships to choosing the right university. Niall Healy of Smaart Publishing said, Because we produce a magazine aimed at those who have just finished GCSEs, we really know the hopes and concerns of this age group. This is a time when big life choices have to be made and young people often need lots of advice. The Smaart Zone will have lots of professionals on hand to offer good advice and help teenagers make informed decisions.

Visitors to Careers & Jobs Live and theGRADfair will also find details of thousands of job opportunities. The careers event is an ideal way to meet face-to-face with prospective employers. Many blue-chip companies are exhibiting including: Royal Air Force, Royal Navy, Metropolitan Police, Tesco, First Group Buses, the Teacher Training Agency, Independent Newspapers Ltd, Milkround Online, ACCA and GCHQ.

There will also be other exciting new zones at Careers and Jobs Live. Within theGRADfair, which is the part of the show specifically aimed at graduates located on the first floor at Olympia, there will be a special section called GradSelect. This is an exclusive zone aimed at people who are looking for their first graduate position in a small to medium sized company.

There will also be the regular features at Careers and Jobs Live, such as The Wall of Opportunity and The CV Clinic. All visitors are advised to bring a CV to the show. This may enable them to be instantly considered for a job opening with a particular exhibitor. Candidates are also advised to dress smartly in order to make a good first impression. Bruce Birchall, exhibitions director, says: Bring plenty of CVs and dress to impress. Many of the exhibitors will be looking for employees, so your first impression could make all the difference.
