Candidates respond to downturn in economy

There appears to be something odd happening in the recruitment sector

There appears to be something odd happening in the recruitment sector. We hear of a downturn in the finance, housing and tourism sectors with steep falls in turnover. According to 1Job, the recruitment sector should, if anything, be more buoyant than ever.

ìWe can only go by our traffic figures over the last 6 monthsî, says 1Job Managing Director Julian Felstead, ìThese have grown by 25% month by month. We now provide over 1 millions referrals to our customers jobs every month. There is clearly an enthusiasm for job change right now and it seems to be on the increase.

One can only speculate the reasons why. We suspect that it is down to market forces. With the immediacy of the internet and the ease of finding a wide selection of jobs all in one place, Julian feels that 1Job has become the place for candidates to find a way to get a better paid job to fund their increased mortgage costs or the holidays they are reluctant to give up.

Even at over 300,000 fresh jobs every day, 1Job can (unlike general search engines) still provide more quality candidates directly to the job vacancy on a Job Board or Recruitment Agency website, in just two clicks.

Two clicks to a job application or CV registration and all for as little as 10 pence and ìNo fixed contractî

What downturn?
