Calling all employers: how carer-friendly are you?

A new interactive website assessment tool to help employers support carers

1.A new interactive website assessment tool to help employers support carers in the workplace is to be launched by Employers for Carers ñ a Carers UK-led interest group representing top industry employers - on Tuesday 25 May at the House of Commons at 4.00pm. The event is hosted by Rachel Squire MP on behalf of Carers UK.


2.The Benchmark Assessment Tool on ww.employersforcarers.org.uk, takes employers through a range of questions, assessing their carer-friendly policies and practices to see how well they are doing and what more could be done.It has been kept simple in design to ensure that it is quick and easy to use for all organisations, no matter what their size and business.


3.Speaking at the event to introduce the tool will be Caroline Waters, Director of People Networks at BT. BT chairs Employers for Carers ñ a group comprising major employers, employersí organisations and Government agencies ñ who have come together to promote the benefits of supporting working carers and influence employment policy and practice.


4.Also speaking at the event will be Imelda Redmond Chief Executive of Carers UK and a working carer.


5.An Award to recognise innovation and delivery of carer-friendly policies is currently being offered by Carers UK, with sponsorship from BT, as part of the Working Families (formerly Parents At Work) Employer of the year Awards.
