California Still First in Nation in New IT Jobs, According to Silicon Valley Firm. Washington DC also Continues to Lead in IT Job Growth

Fremont,CA- An analysis of new software and IT job creation by state and metropolitan area shows that San Jos, California and Washington, DC were the two top metropolitan areas for job creation in November 2004. According to the analysis of data complied by Silicon Valley firm NimbleCatTM, California continues to lead nationally in the creation of new high-tech positions. After showing a slight dip in October, the percentage of new job openings in California resumed its upward trend. Three Northern California cities-San Jos, San Francisco and Oakland-as well as the Southern California city of Long Beach were in the nationwide top ten metropolitan areas for job creation.

The top ten metropolitan areas for IT and software job creation in November, in order of number of jobs created from highest to lowest, were San Jos, CA; Washington, DC; Long Beach, CA; New York, NY; Chicago, IL; Boston, MA; Oakland CA; Seattle, WA; San Francisco, CA and Atlanta, GA.

NimbleCat’s recently introduced analysis of software job creation by category shows that software engineer, software manager and program manager continue to be the three leading job categories of new US software and IT jobs in November. The report is based on an analysis of software and IT jobs posted to major job boards. NimbleCat analyses new US software and IT jobs every day to produce free daily job alerts for approximately 6000 subscribers.

Sunil Mehta, NimbleCat founder and CEO, remarked, I think it’s especially encouraging to see strong IT job growth during what is traditionally a slower season for hiring in many sectors. Another continuing trend shown in our recent reports is the increase in new software management and program management jobs. These are all good indicators that companies are optimistic about the future. Mehta added, Our findings that three Bay Area cities are among the top ten for new jobs in the IT sector must come as welcome news in particular to Silicon Valley seekers, who were particularly hard hit by the downturn in recent years.

NimbleCat, a privately held company in Fremont, California, was founded by a team of engineering and recruitment professionals to solve the problem of matching the right person with the right job. Having experienced how difficult and time-consuming it is to connect quality professionals with the jobs that they are best suited for, NimbleCat’s founders have created the first job-routing network (JRN) to connect highly qualified job seekers with the best jobs, and employers with the most qualified candidates. The company’s service is free of charge to job seekers.
