Up and coming British entrepreneur, Cengiz Somay, is set to shake-up the UK recruitment market with the launch of rec-X, a new independent web based pre-selection tool, that helps employers find the people they need.
The launch comes at a time when the jobs market is the tightest it has been for seven years, with employers finding it increasingly difficult to recruit the right people. The Recruitment & Employment Confederation and Deloitte job report revealed that demand for staff rose close to record levels, yet the availability of candidates was substantially lower than in previous years (November 2004). National press reports have indicated that this is affecting growth and that businesses are struggling to cope. Employers are now looking to use more effective ways of sourcing new employees.
rec-X, a new online service, takes vacancy details from employers and identifies the recruitment agencies that operate within the specified sectors and locations then instantly emails these agencies with news of the vacancy. Employerís details are kept anonymous, allowing recruiters to concentrate on their core business while agencies work on the vacancy. Agencies have 5 days to present their best candidates and fees to the employer via the site.
In short, rec-X acts as a recruitment broker between employer and recruitment agency. Cengiz believes it offers a win-win solution for both parties: ìEmployers gain access to 13,000 recruitment agencies and their candidates, completely free of charge. Agencies gain a consistent flow of live vacancies, making cold calling a chore of the pastî
Statistics show that over 80% of employers use recruitment agencies and most UK cities have over 200 to choose from. A typical employer will only contact 2-3 agencies in their area, which could equate to as little as 1% of the potential. rec-X is the first tool to directly address this need and creates a quick and easy way for employers to discover new talent for their organisations.
rec-X is forecast to capture 10% of the 25 billion UK recruitment market in just one year. Cengiz believes the revolution is long overdue: ìThe current UK skills shortage is affecting growth and employers are struggling to find the right people. rec-X has been specifically developed to address this need and change the face of recruitment. I am confident that 1 in 3 UK employers will be using rec-X to pre-select candidates by the end of this year.î
