Blackberries mean many donít switch off over Christmas

Over 40% of office support and finance staff did not take a total break from work over the Christmas holiday

Over 40% of office support and finance staff did not take a total break from work over the Christmas holiday. Recent surveys from finance recruiter FSS and office support recruiter Crone Corkill, asked candidates whether they would be switching off over the holiday, to which 21% of finance professionals and 15% of PAs and secretarial staff answered ënoí as their blackberry is never turned off.

A further 28% of Crone Corkillís office support candidates answered that they would be working a few days over the Christmas period compared to only 22% of FSSís financial candidates, a surprising result when the common belief is that the financial sector requires longer hours.

However the good news is that over 50% of all respondents were planning on switching off, although some would check work email occasionally. ìItís good to see that the majority of people planned on taking a well deserved break over Christmasî says Rachel Tubridy, Head of Marketing. ìItís understandable that some people hold positions of great responsibility and are unable to totally switch off from their jobs, but itís important that they take a bit of a break and enjoy the festive season so that they feel refreshed for the new year!î
