Atos announced as one of the top 30 undergraduate employers

Internship programme grown by 327% in two years

Atos, an international leader in digital services, has been announced as the 11th best undergraduate employer by Rate My Placement in relation to their hugely successful internship programme, a ranking which is based on reviews of former interns.

In just two years the number of interns taken on by Atos has increased by over 300%, highlighting their commitment to young people.

Commenting on the announcement Jane Williams, HR Director at Atos said: “To be included in Rate My Placements’ list of top undergraduate employers is such a fantastic achievement and something we are incredibly proud of. We have invested a lot in the growth of the programme and we are forecast to take 47 interns in 2016, a phenomenal increase since the scheme first launched.

“Our internships are for university students who spend their penultimate year with us before returning to their degree course for a final year. We give the interns real work and real assignments on live projects. They are a key member of the team and are given responsibilities and have a notable impact on the business through their work.

“We recognise the importance of internships as graduates who have completed internship programmes tend to have a better understanding and knowledge of the roles they are applying for. Students are hungrier for work than ever as they realise how competitive it is when they graduate so they are keen to start their career as soon as possible.”

The interns at Atos receive a salary of £18,000 per annum (£20,000 in London) as well as ongoing training and development throughout the programme. Successful interns are offered a Graduate job from Atos for them to return once they have completed their degree, with Atos supporting them throughout their final year at university with £500 per term sponsorship.

Stephen Allen, an Application Developer at Atos said: “I was studying Computer Science at Warwick University with an interlocated year which I completed at Atos. During my internship I was impressed with the number of situations where I had to apply the technical and business skills I had learned on my course.

“Straight away I was helping a senior developer re-design a major broadcasting client’s intranet site which gave me exceptional hands on experience. It was fantastic to have real responsibility for my projects and gain a deeper understanding of how large IT projects work, something which really helped me throughout my final year of university.

“I am now back with Atos on the Graduate programme and I am looking forward to progressing my career with the company.”
