Following Ed Miliband’s announcement that, if elected, Labour would end “the worst abuses” of zero-hours contracts, Samantha Hurley, Head of External Relations at APSCo, says:
“While APSCo fully supports any proposals which prevent exploitation of vulnerable workers, we strongly believe that any plans need to take into account today’s flexible workforce. Labour must remember that a large number of people working on flexible contracts is not necessarily a bad thing in and of itself, and that this type of contract can be a relevant model providing opportunities to people who may not otherwise get access to work.”
