Aon is celebrating its 20th anniversary through community projects ñ such as refurbishing an African Caribbean charity shop in London ñ and by treating every employee to their birthday off work.
Over 5,000 employees across the UK will all receive an extra dayís holiday over the next twelve months to commemorate the two decades since Aon was quoted on the New York Stock Exchange on 24 April 1987.
Stuart Fox, managing director of HR at Aon, commented: ìEmployees at Aon, like most in the industry, are experiencing a period of significant change. We wanted to recognise the contribution our individuals are making to the business by giving them the extra holiday. Aon operates a flexible benefits system and the most popular ëboughtí benefit is additional holidays, with 20% of eligible staff opting for extra holiday this year. Therefore, the Aon 20 birthday holiday provides staff with a valued extra benefit. Having recommended this benefit to our HR clients, weíre glad to practice what we preach!î
Meanwhile, over 150 Aon offices around the world are participating in local community projects on or around that date with the theme ëPeople Helping Peopleí. From replacing electrical fittings at a Hackney charity shop to painting the music room at the Childrenís Hospice Association of Scotland, employees have been encouraged to take part in these projects to thank local communities that have supported Aon over the last 20 years.
ìThe last twenty years have seen Aon achieve leading positions in insurance broking, risk management and HR consulting. As we continue to grow, we are keen to remain a fun place to work and build on our staff culture, around taking pride and bringing innovation.î
